Laptops, tablets, smartphones, e-readers, smart TVs, and most recently, VR headsets - we are surrounded by displays and interfaces. The question of user-friendly design for these human-computer interaction interfaces is becoming increasingly important. Despite the societal relevance of this topic, there has been a lack of interdisciplinary interface research that integrates not only technical issues but also media and cultural studies approaches. This volume brings together, for the first time, the scattered research on interfaces and human-computer interaction, which is primarily derived from technology and design, with an analysis of suitable communication and interaction models, offering a systematization in the sense of distinctly interdisciplinary but media-theoretical and cultural-anthropological focused "Interface Studies.".
