Autism spectrum disorders are profound developmental disorders. They are primarily characterized in affected individuals by abnormalities in social interaction and communication. However, targeted therapy can reduce the symptoms. After music therapy has already shown initial positive effects in these areas for toddlers, this volume focuses on school-age children and adolescents between 6 and 18 years old. Gero Schwager explains the scientifically relevant background information in the first part and dedicates the second part to the evaluation of current studies in order to discuss the implementation of music therapy in the everyday life of special education schools based on this foundation.
