The aim of Ontosophy is to highlight and penetrate the evolutionarily and culturally distorted notions of what thinking and reality are through awareness. Furthermore, it seeks to provide a more adequate description of reality. The first volume of this edition of Berndt Acker's writings, which is planned to consist of three volumes in total, includes a shorter first part in which Acker introduces the program of Ontosophy and addresses content-related as well as methodological questions and goals. He also provides guidance for reading the work. The more extensive second part of Ontosophy deals with the fundamental structures and forms of thinking. Through a precise and complex analysis of language, thought, memory, images, and concepts, Acker develops the "elementary particles of thought." Thus, the first volume serves as an epistemological introduction to a large-scale project that addresses central questions of human existence. Ontosophy as a whole is an attempt to provide answers to these questions while simultaneously revealing the profound mystery and infinite complexity of the universe. Throughout, the author remains humorous and true to his unconventional, profound lines of thought.
