Stanislaw Lem is considered a bestseller of the Polish literary scene. The works of this significant literary visionary have been translated into 57 languages and sold over 45 million copies. Translated editions of his work can be found in bookstores around the world. The dialectical thinker from Kraków is thus one of the most widely read Polish authors on both sides of the Elbe. Does Lem succeed in challenging the paradigm of the fundamental mutual (non-)perception of Germans and Poles in the realm of cultural achievements through the reception of his writings? Jacek Rzeszotnik has noted that so far, there are only a few major academic papers on Lem's work. The main focus of receptive achievement in the German-speaking world consists primarily of interviews, followed by essays and collected reviews.
