The construction researcher and later building advisor Wulf Schaefer (1907-1994) completed the first part of his work on the 'Construction History of Nauplia' in 1936 and supplemented it with a second part by 1944. The work was never published due to the war, except for a few typewritten copies. Alexander Zäh has now organized, shortened, and updated it. "It is the history of the city of Nauplia, drawing from all available sources, both written and built documents, about its people and its buildings. (...) All insights from our scientific efforts should culminate in the goal of uncovering the driving forces and essences of this city, in other words: to seek the genius loci - in short - its soul."
