Abstract: Bullfighting, or corrida de toros in Spanish, is a phenomenon deeply rooted in Spanish everyday culture that has fascinated both royalty and nobility as well as the common urban and rural population for centuries. Bullfighting was a true obsession, the mass spectacle of Spain, until football took its place. Spaniards built mausoleums and monuments for their national heroes (the matadors), honored their memory in bullfighting museums and countless taverns. In the streets, children from all social classes played.
