Product details

Since Daniel Goleman's bestseller "Emotional Intelligence" was published 20 years ago, emotions have been a hot topic. In psychology, humanities, and social sciences, they have experienced a true renaissance. At the same time, neuroscience has contributed to an unprecedented understanding of the origins and benefits of emotions. Nevertheless, it seems that we have not become any more emotionally intelligent - quite the opposite: emotions only occur in business, school, and private life when they do not disturb. They are either completely ignored or used dramatically in effective communication, and are hardly recognized as signals for motivation, warning, or affirmation. As a result, emotions are reduced to easily consumable mental fast food, romantically idealized and stripped of their true purpose. This trend leads us to lose the last bastion of personal responsibility.
