A special feature of the Japanese language is its complex writing system, which consists of Chinese characters and the syllabaries Hiragana and Katakana. This successful and newly designed Japanese textbook teaches all scripts from the very beginning. Learning objectives: Mastery of everyday language, ability to read and write simple Japanese texts. Concept: The 15 lessons each include dialogues or reading texts with exercises for conversation and questions about the text, as well as a vocabulary list and an active kanji list, explanations and exercises on grammar, and translation exercises. Each lesson ends with a test; the answers are provided in the appendix. The characters inherited from China, known as Kanji, are divided into active and passive kanji. For passive kanji, reading and understanding are sufficient.
