The target audience is students of Italian studies, art history, and archaeology without prior knowledge, who require specialized language skills, for example, for a study stay, as well as those interested in specialized language for self-study. Learning objectives include reading comprehension of specialized texts, communicative competence for everyday (professional) life during a stay in Italy, and independent research on subject-specific websites; level A2 of the European Reference Framework.

The textbook is divided into 14 cohesive lessons, which can be covered in 2 modules with 2 semester hours each. Each lesson begins with an authentic specialized text that serves as the basis for the subsequent grammar explanations and exercises. Art historical illustrations enhance the book and provide a realistic impression of the discussed content.
