In her short life, Aglaja Veteranyi filled numerous notebooks and scraps of paper with texts. She continuously crossed out, rewrote, and let her words and sentences wander from one text to another. Thus, despite two posthumously published books, her estate still contains a considerable number of unpublished texts. The first of the two volumes, "Words Instead of Furniture," includes short and very short stories, poems, sayings and tips, mini-dramas, and the lengthy monologue "Mamaia." The author also wrote these texts for stage performances, which she performed alone or together with her life and creative partner Jens Nielsen. What they all share is the author's peculiar blend of surrendering grotesque, deeply sad sarcasm, and profound comedy.
