After their bloody battle, Kaneda and Kei are flown to the Colonel's headquarters along with the severely injured Tetsuo. There, Tetsuo quickly recovers from his injuries. He now wants to make contact with Akira, who has been kept in artificial cold sleep for over thirty years. However, the other psychics fear that a terrible catastrophe could be unleashed if Akira is awakened.
