Rumpelding is the clumsy pet of a wizard, who loves to eat dust bunnies and river pebbles. What? What exactly is a Rumpelding? And are there more Rumpeldings out there in the big wide world? That's exactly what Rumpelding is wondering too! And since the wizard is always busy at home with his spells, Rumpelding sets off on his own to find the answer. Together with his friend Oink, a little piglet with a tiny speech impediment, he ventures into the big wide world. But soon they are not alone on their journey. Rumpelding and Oink meet the fairy Kniffel and her brother Riffel, a soft squirrel, and the vampire Zeno. They all join in and accompany Rumpelding on his quest for answers. But neither the all-knowing mermaid Nanami nor the witches on the highest mountain can help.
