Jean Van Hamme is one of the most productive, successful, and popular comic authors of our time. Born in 1939, he wrote his first comic script in 1968 with the erotic volume "Epoxy," illustrated by Paul Cuvelier. This was followed by series such as "Corentin," "Magellan," "Domino," the long-running fantasy series "Thorgal" (starting in 1977), and the epic "The Great Power of the Little Schninkel" (both illustrated by Grzegorz Rosinski). In 1983, Van Hamme, in collaboration with artist William Vance, launched the spy thriller "XIII," arguably the most popular European comic crime story. In addition to scripts for "The Joker" and "Adventures Without Heroes" (with Dany) as well as "Largo Winch" (with Philippe Francq), he revitalized the series "Blake and Mortimer" by Edgar P. Jacobs with artist Ted Benoît, with the volume "The Case of Francis Blake" marking a significant renaissance.
