In recent years, there has been an increasing recognition that case management is significantly dependent on its implementation within the respective organization. Consequently, it is necessary to understand case management as an organizational concept and to specify it from this perspective. Case management has been used for many years as a successful approach to appropriately handle complex cases within complex care systems. Therefore, it makes sense to also consider the case management organization from a systemic perspective. The distinction between programs, communication channels, and personnel helps to prepare the complex topic of organization for case management. Key focuses include personnel development and the implementation of case management in existing organizations, as well as the risks and conflicts that may arise.
