Product details

The book "Castle Children" is the third volume of the Molsdorf Trilogy and offers a unique insight into the memories of former residents of a children's home in the Thuringian Castle of Molsdorf during the 1950s. It documents the authentic experiences of the castle children and their caregivers, who lived in a culturally and historically significant building that was preserved from demolition. The publication is the result of a long-term project conducted from 2017 to 2019, which brought together former residents of the home. It contains not only personal stories but also a dialogical compilation of interviews with the caregivers, presented as a transcript of the video work by Swiss artist Mats Staub. Additionally, various memory fragments from the children, who were then aged 3 to 6, are included, reflecting the period of early German division. Thus, the book not only offers individual life stories but also provides a valuable contribution to the historical examination of this era. A partial reprint of a photo album from a former caregiver complements the publication, which is made available free of charge to the former residents.
