Due to the societal perception of Islam and the associated negative connotations regarding young people with a Turkish migration background, as well as their challenges within the German education system, youth vocational assistance represents an important interface for this target group in the transition from school to work, aiming to provide them with better opportunities. Within the various measures of youth vocational assistance, religion plays a minor role, even though Islam holds significant importance for many of the young people with a Turkish migration background. A qualitative study will explore the significance of Islam for these youths and the related issues in engaging with this target group in youth vocational assistance. It will also examine whether the approach of interreligious dialogue plays a role.
