Sensational media coverage and academic works about young male perpetrators of violence with a migration background contribute to shaping the image of a Turkish man driven by concepts of honor. What it actually means in this society to be young, male, and "Turkish-Muslim" is not discussed. Questions regarding the specific significance of masculinity and ethnicity for potential violent behavior are not raised. Instead, in this discourse, the "macho Turk" is part of the current conceptual repertoire for analyzing violence. The author addresses this issue.
