Product details

Cento Passi, the well-known hundred steps after a meal, accompanied Giuseppe Micciche as he took his father, who suffers from dementia, two to three times a week. The son captured the fleeting moments with his father through photography, where the precise documentary gaze is simultaneously marked by a gentle tenderness that never risks slipping into sentimentality. The range of movement was limited to the neighborhood where the father had lived and worked since he came from Sicily to Winterthur: Where the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Factory once stood, where he worked for over thirty years, there is now a post-industrial wasteland. Where he used to live, there is now a gas station, and where his beloved allotment garden was, there is a McDonald's drive-thru. The changing neighborhood serves as both a mirror and a projection surface for paternal memories.
