Product details

Erich Neumann, a Jewish doctor and psychologist born in Berlin in 1905, fled Nazi Germany in 1934—one year after he met the nearly 30 years older C. G. Jung at a seminar. The two men began an intense exchange of ideas, which was reflected in a correspondence that spanned three decades. This volume documents for the first time the entire correspondence between C. G. Jung and his most significant student, who himself became one of the most influential depth psychologists of our time. The Jung-Neumann letters reveal much about Jung's attitude towards Judaism and his understanding of Jewish mysticism. They fascinatingly describe what emigration to Palestine meant for German Jewish intellectuals. Last but not least, this book sheds enlightening light on Jung's stance towards Nazi Germany.
