Insel Helgoland

Product details
The island of Helgoland was developed with military fortifications in the 19th century due to its exposed location and the resulting strategic importance. During World War II, additional underground and above-ground military structures made of concrete were built, most of which were destroyed in 1947 during the "Big Bang" - the largest non-nuclear explosion ever created by humans. Some remnants from the island's tumultuous history can still be found today.
