Product details
"This is my whole life" - with these words, Charlotte hands over a suitcase full of pictures to a confidant in 1942. They were created in French exile and tell the story of how, as a little girl in 1920s Berlin, she learns to be alone after the death of her mother, while her father, a respected doctor, immerses himself in work. Then come the years when cultural life returns to the Salomons. The stepmother is a famous singer; they are acquainted with Albert Einstein, Erich Mendelsohn, and Albert Schweitzer. Charlotte begins to paint, creating images that reveal the innermost feelings of this solitary, dreamy girl, pictures that demonstrate great talent. But then, in 1933, hatred seizes power, leading to escape, exile, but also passion and marriage. Only her paintings survive - a testament to her touching story.
