The documents contained in the Chartularium Sangallense have been compiled over many years from more than 100 archives across Europe, making this new work a combination of two important aspects of historical research: Like the old St. Gallen document book, it is an indispensable tool for medieval studies, while also serving as a foundation for any exploration of the medieval history of the Lake Constance region. Compared to the old document book, the Chartularium Sangallense contains 40 percent previously unknown documents.
