But we had the best mothers in the world, who toiled for us in the struggle for daily food, without knowing what the future would bring or whether our fathers would return home unscathed or at all. What we lacked in toys, we made up for with boundless imagination. In our youth, the economy slowly improved, and this was noticeable for us as well: fashion became more cheerful, music more upbeat, and the world was open for us to explore.
