A textbook with intercultural themes not only imparts a deeper language competence but also addresses typical questions about everyday life in China, such as: Why is interpersonal contact so important in China? Why do the Chinese often say something they don't really mean? Why does the opera feel like a teahouse? Or why does food hold such great significance? The eight self-contained lessons of the textbook provide answers to these questions by explaining typical situations, thereby enhancing the understanding of China. In this volume, dialogues on intercultural topics form the foundation upon which grammar and exercises are built. Communicative sentence structures and phrases include a vocabulary of over 700 new terms with about 1600 characters. The entire vocabulary is conveyed in the lesson texts and exercises.
