Starting in February 2015, the Kunstmuseum Basel will be closed for over a year due to renovation work. During this hiatus, 'bz Basel' wanted to remind the public of the enormous treasures housed in the museum from the periods between the late Middle Ages and the present. Therefore, it took the closure year as an opportunity for a special series. Each week, a personality from Basel presented their favorite work from the Kunstmuseum. Politicians, managers, scientists, artists, architects, theater people, writers, and athletes wrote about what particularly fascinated them about the work they chose. This carefully designed, richly illustrated book now provides a handy overview of all the selected and described works. It offers a very personal, subjective, and exciting approach to the collection of one of the most important art museums in the world.
