Product details

With the Psychological Teaching and Counseling Center founded by Friedrich Liebling, the city of Zurich, long known as a "metropolis of psychology," became a sort of "Mecca for psychology students." From the late 1960s to the 1980s, this so-called Zurich School was the largest psychological movement in Switzerland, with around 3,000 participants from both domestic and international backgrounds. The founder, Friedrich Liebling (1893-1982), succeeded in combining committed psychological-pedagogical work with a visionary critique of society. While the group processes opened up spaces for freedom and development opportunities, they also tended toward conformity. Based on interviews, state security and court records, as well as other previously unexplored sources, the author examines the motives that led people from diverse backgrounds to join this circle.
