Product details
Jean Gebser (1905-1973) created a multifaceted and relational body of work as a poet, translator, and philosopher. His philosophy is grounded in a thorough engagement with the phenomena of language and poetry, as well as with individual poets: Eliot, Mallarmé, Valéry, Aragon, Lorca, Guillén, Hölderlin, Trakl, and especially Rilke are noteworthy. Picasso, whose art also nourished Gebser's philosophy, gifted him the drawing depicted on the cover of this volume. "Let me keep this, my voice," the second volume of the Jean Gebser series, brings together writings - "The Grammatical Mirror," "Rilke and Spain," "Lorca or the Realm of Mothers" - selected essays, and literary translations that highlight the poetic background of Gebser's philosophy. Gebser's translation work is one of the main sources for his insights into language.
