"Pilgrimage" and "big city" - two phenomena that could hardly be more opposite. In Seebach, a neighborhood in the north of Zurich, these two poles meet and lose some of their incompatibility. Over the course of sixty years, a regional pilgrimage site has emerged in this urban area, seemingly fulfilling the needs of many pilgrims. This work aims to provide insights into the historical conditions of the Seebach Lourdes Grotto's emergence and to capture its current state in a pilgrimage ethnography.
