"68" stands for student movements, strikes, and street battles in Berlin, Paris, or Zurich, as well as for the protest against the Vietnam War, the Prague Spring, and the experimentation with new lifestyles. But what was happening before "68"? What reform movements developed independently and beyond that? The New Year's publication 2018 of the Antiquarian Society showcases various upheavals between the 1950s and 1970s in the Zurich area, interacting with Switzerland and the world. The "long sixties" of the 20th century saw reforms and initiatives that began in the 1950s and gained momentum in the following decade. Jazz clubs and educational reforms, traffic planning and a construction boom, the presence of foreign workers, the emancipation of women, or the issue of nuclear armament, as well as the expansion of psychoanalysis, came to the forefront.
