Under the pseudonym Silvia Andrea, Johanna Garbald-Gredig (1840-1935) became a well-known and popular writer far beyond the borders of her home canton of Graubünden. Her historical tales and novels, in particular, were very well received. In "Violanta Prevosti," she depicts the fate of the fictional granddaughter of Giovanni Battista Prevosti against the backdrop of the Graubünden turmoil at the beginning of the 17th century, who was condemned and executed by the Thusis court. Two historical events are described in detail: the downfall of Plurs in 1618 and the so-called Veltliner murders in July 1620.
