Multimedia support has become indispensable in language teaching. Teachers now primarily use original-language films to engage their students with topics relevant to their final exams, to impart knowledge about culture and regional studies, and to improve listening comprehension. However, there is still a lack of accompanying materials, and adequately preparing the film for classroom use requires a significant time investment. Our new series "CinELE" fills this gap. The A4-sized material provides a practical resource for teaching the award-winning film "La lengua de las mariposas" in upper secondary education. Worksheets with questions about the content and analysis of individual scenes allow for comprehensive coverage with minimal preparation from the instructor. A tabular lesson plan offers a quick overview and straightforward guidance. The use of this material is ideal for exploring the failure of the Second Spanish Republic and the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.

About the film: Young Moncho starts school and immediately takes a liking to his teacher, a staunch Republican who prefers modern educational methods over brutal disciplinary measures. Together, they explore the world, and Moncho soon develops a special enthusiasm for nature, which his teacher teaches him about during their outings. However, their time together comes to a sudden end as the already unstable Republic begins to falter, and the military's rising resistance ultimately foreshadows its demise.
