"City Lust" is the name of a fragrance that photographer and sociologist Charlie Koolhaas discovered in a perfume wholesale store in Dubai. "City Lust" also serves as the starting point for Koolhaas's personal journey of exploration that takes her around the world: in Guangzhou, Dubai, and Lagos, as well as in Houston and London, she traces the rapid changes that the globalized economy imposes on the urban societies of these diverse metropolises. She has lived in these cities for extended periods and taken countless photographs, many of which are of great intensity.
