The book "Classification and Modeling with Linguistic Information Granules" offers a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and opportunities arising from the use of linguistic models in classification and modeling. While mathematical models are widely used in the literature and can be efficiently processed by computer systems, intuitive understandability for human users often remains a hurdle. This work highlights the discrepancy between mathematical modeling and human information processing, which is heavily based on linguistic knowledge. It is argued that linguistic models, although they may not provide the highest accuracy, represent a valuable alternative when interpretability and understanding of the models are prioritized. The authors, including Manabu Nii, Hisao Ishibuchi, and Tomoharu Nakashima, contribute their expertise to discuss the relevance and application of linguistic information elements in modern data analysis.
