Clybourne Park
English, German, Bruce Norris, 2015Product details
Chicago, 1959: The decision to sell one of the houses in Clybourne Park to a Black family causes open outrage in the white neighborhood. Fifty years later: A white family buys the house, triggering fears of impending gentrification in a neighborhood that is now predominantly inhabited by Black residents. With his play about subtle yet powerful prejudices and tensions, Norris connects to Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun," one of the key works of American Black Drama. He received the Pulitzer Prize for this in 2011.
