Mario Volpe was born in 1936 in Barranquilla, Colombia. In 1961, he received his architecture diploma from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. He attended the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University and studied painting at the Art Students League of New York. He lived in Bern, Switzerland, from 1972 until his death in 2013. He had many solo and group exhibitions in America, Colombia, and Switzerland.
