The 11th century is considered a turning point and time of upheaval in the European Middle Ages, marked by profound changes in society and governance. However, little is still known about the fundamental prerequisite for the functioning of this society: communication. This book illustrates how communication operated in the mid-11th century through the example of church reform, making visible for the first time, with the help of network analysis, the multitude of actors, themes, and structures involved.
