Nonparametric statistics is an important subfield of statistical methodology. Characteristic of nonparametric statistical methods are primarily distribution-freeness, robustness, and simplicity, which results in high practical relevance. This textbook provides a clear introduction to nonparametric tests; particular attention is given to permutation and bootstrap tests, which have increasingly gained prominence since the second half of the 1990s and are now implemented in numerous statistical software systems. Following the presentation of the various testing methods, specific example testing problems are addressed. Additionally, programs are comprehensively introduced, enabling the reader to apply the methods themselves.
