Product details

The question of life includes the question of dying and death. This is frequently discussed in the international palliative movement co-founded by Cicely Saunders. During the five decades that Saunders accompanied severely ill and dying individuals, she recognized that a person's suffering and pain are truly understood only when not just medical, but also social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual factors are taken into account. This interdisciplinary perspective on suffering and pain has become known as Total Pain. In her book, Martina Holder-Franz illustrates how Saunders grounded her commitment in her Christian faith, how her understanding of spirituality evolved throughout her life, and which people or experiences had a lasting impact on her. At the same time, she connects Saunders' concept of spiritual care.
