Liberalization and market opening are buzzwords that have gained increasing importance in all sectors of public services in recent years. Guidelines from the European Union and their implementation into national law aim to reduce access restrictions, foster competition, and ultimately lead to lower prices in these areas as well. The competition arising from market liberalization posed the greatest challenge for the affected companies, alongside emerging internal organizational changes. Therefore, the transformation of businesses from monopolists to competitive providers often proved difficult. An example of this is the transport market, where, until now, monopolists have predominantly operated, whether in local or long-distance transport. However, a trend towards privatization and increased competition is gradually developing here as well.
