Based on a critical reconstruction and historicization of the inherited, primarily Marxist-oriented analyses of the capitalist welfare state and its activities in producing the commodity labor power, Roland Atzmüller demonstrates how the development of new forms of self-governance through adaptation and learning is linked to social struggles for new forms of crisis management within the capitalist mode of production. The pedagogization of the reproduction of production relations renders the hegemony of capital in neoliberalism a result of the self-activities of subjects transformed into human capital.
