The portrait of one of the most remarkable female figures in Austrian economic history. Margarethe Ottillinger endured seven years of imprisonment in the Soviet GULAG. After her return, she became the first woman on the board of ÖMV, shaping it into Austria's flagship company. On November 5, 1948, section leader Margarethe Ottillinger was arrested by Soviet troops on the Enns Bridge. While her boss, Minister Peter Krauland, used the permission to continue his journey, Ottillinger was taken to the civil central prison in Baden near Vienna. Although no offense could be proven against her, she was sentenced to 25 years in a forced labor camp. A path of suffering through the Soviet GULAG began.
