Is music political? Can it inspire people to take political action? These are just some of the questions this book seeks to answer. Referring to the Frankfurt School, it draws a connection to a critical theory of Cultural Studies. Music is understood as a framing process that generates and structures both individual and collective action in social movements, primarily based on strong emotions. These theoretical insights are brought to life through the examination of the case study "SambAttac." The group attempts to express its political concerns in an unconventional way using Brazilian samba music.
