Product details

On April 1, 1919, an art and design school opened its doors in Weimar. It became the most significant school of its kind in the 20th century. The goal was to unite all the arts and collaboratively create the "building of the future" as a so-called "total work of art." Additionally, it aimed to implement the educational and social aspirations of a new design for life and the environment. Walter Gropius succeeded in attracting some of the most important avant-garde artists to the Bauhaus, such as Johannes Itten, Lyonel Feininger, Paul Klee, and Wassily Kandinsky. "The Bauhaus in Weimar" organizes key terms and figures from this pivotal era and provides insights into the early days of the Bauhaus in Weimar through concise and informative articles. Richly illustrated and accompanied by a comprehensive index and bibliography, it presents the milestones and origins of the Weimar Bauhaus.
