The emergence and defensive function of hunger are also subjects of analysis, as is the changing significance of food during the course of the binge. The medical history shows that bulimia is not solely a disorder of puberty; rather, it is often rooted in childhood, where it has significant symptoms that precede the eating symptom, making it justified to refer to it as bulimia.
