In winter, the north wind blows icy over the lava rocks. It is dark, as if the end of the world is near. In summer, the nights are bright as day, and the hills smell of dew-soaked grass in the morning. This is Iceland in 1636, where Jónas, the scholar, lives. He actually just wants to wander the world, become even more learned, and hunt monsters. But his knowledge brings him envy, making his life difficult and driving him from one adventure to another.
