An overwhelming number of books on meditation suggest that it is about achieving a quiet mind or other states of consciousness through methods or techniques. The great Indian teacher J. Krishnamurti highlights the shortcomings and pitfalls of such an approach. For him, meditation is the feeling and complete understanding of the entirety of life, without selection.
