In the icy waters of the Vering Canal, young Sinti musician Jenay drowns. During a conversation with the undertaker Theo Matthies, her mother expresses her suspicion that her daughter was murdered. Since Theo has become known in Wilhelmsburg for his investigative skills, she asks him to look into Jenay's death, as she does not trust the Hamburg police. Theo then meets with his old friend Hadice Öztürk, who had been investigating the case until she had to close it – despite also having doubts about the young woman's accidental death.
