For a pedagogy that supports and challenges the self-activity, curiosity, and creativity of young children, Reggio pedagogy is the model that has been theoretically justified and practically developed in the most differentiated way. Therefore, the considerations on early childhood pedagogy published by Gerd E. Schäfer and Angelika von der Beek in this volume are based on Reggio pedagogy. On this foundation, (cognitive) scientific principles for early childhood pedagogy are further developed, and practice is consistently oriented towards a pedagogy of everyday life. Beyond project work, the limitations of age-homogeneous group and offer pedagogy in Reggio become clear, as well as the potentials that working in functional spaces in Germany offers when perceptive observation is effectively integrated into practice.
