The central theme of the study is the new opera house in Beijing, the National Opera, which opened in 2007. This building, which has been a subject of controversy in China, was constructed in the heart of the Chinese capital, close to Tiananmen Square. Externally, the National Opera resembles a modern Western building, designed by a Western architect. It seems that with the National Opera in Beijing, an attempt was made to integrate the musical tradition of the West into a distinctly Chinese context in the form of a monument. When examining the structure while considering architectural and sociocultural aspects, it becomes evident that the Chinese theater building tradition is indeed present. The study also demonstrates how this tradition has been integrated or implemented.
