Product details
Gwen Frostic was an American artist who lived in Michigan from 1906 to 2001. Her disability, which affected her motor skills and speech, did not prevent her from creating around 3,000 linocuts and writing 22 literary works, all of which testify to her connection to nature and her profound knowledge of the flora and fauna of Michigan. All her works represent a symbiosis of word and image. Through the archiving and analysis of her private library, the uncovering of her artistic affinity for Japan, the examination of the word-image correlation, and the presentation of theories of literary translation, the complete works of the artist are thoroughly investigated in relation to translation practice.
